Inside Moves

Andres was born in East Berlin, during the time of the Berlin Wall. After completing hotel management college and serving the mandatory time in the German army (good for developing discipline and order), he left Germany. Before moving to Hawaii, Andres worked in a variety of departments and positions in the hotel industry for five star properties in Berlin, London and Dallas. One particularly relevant position was Executive Chief Steward of the InterContinental Dallas. In addition to establishing systems for inventory, etc., and responsibilities for the cleanliness of the hotel, Andres cleaned and ordered a twenty-year-old, 25,000 square foot storage room. After reorganizing the inventory, he found buyers for the remaining items that were there gathering dust – turning the hotel “junk” into cash.

“From an early age, I became a trader of items – the East did not offer the variety of products I was interested in,” says Harnisch. Andres joined the eBay community in 2001 and recently gained status as a “power seller,” and opened his first eBay store (inside-moves).

Before marrying his wife, he moved her house three times, handling every detail from beginning to end. This included finding buyers for possessions that were not feasible for the move to Hawaii. “I helped her let go of many things that were in her way. I still do,” he jokes.
Andres organized garage sales and realized many of the items sold at the last minute could have been sold through different channels, for much more money.

Inside Moves helps sell items or services for people who do not have the time or interest to do it alone. Andres can also find unique things they might be looking for.
Along the way, establishing this business, Andres discovered a number of local up-and-coming artists without a good venue to display their work. These connections became the “Art Moves Gallery” and an eBay store exclusively representing Hawaii’s best new local artists as well as some of the more recognized names.
